A Weekend in Washington D.C.

Carolyn with Team Scouted here! I grew up in the DMV area (short for D.C., Maryland, Virginia), and after recently living in the heart of D.C. for six years, I can confidently say the city is full of hidden gems and iconic spots you won’t want to miss. Whether you're here for a few days or a full week, I've put together a quick itinerary to give you a taste of everything D.C. has to offer!

Day 1: A Taste of D.C.’s History & Culture

Start your trip with a Monuments & Memorials Tour to see the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and other historical landmarks. Afterward, grab a bite at the classic Old Ebbitt Grill near the White House. In the evening, catch a performance at The Kennedy Center—a must-see for arts lovers.

Day 2: Iconic D.C. & Local Flavor

No visit to D.C. is complete without touring the US Capitol and seeing the White House. If you're in town in spring, make sure to visit the Cherry Blossom Festival for breathtaking views. For dinner, stop by Seven Reasons for vibrant Latin cuisine or dive into some hearty comfort food at Ben’s Chili Bowl on U Street.

D.C. has around 3800 Cherry Blossom Trees, most located around the Tidal Basin.

Day 3: History & Fun

Take a trip to Arlington Cemetery to pay respects to our nation’s heroes. Then, head to the National Zoo for a more relaxed afternoon. End your trip with a cozy meal at Le Diplomate, offering some of the best French food in town.

Waldorf Astoria, Washington D.C.

Did you know that this hotel is located in the Old Post Office Building, built in 1899? It even still has their original mail chutes!

If you're interested in planning your next trip to our Nation's Capital, we'd love to help make it unforgettable! Reach out to us at team@scoutedtravelco.com to start planning your perfect trip to D.C.
